Today would've been my grandma's birthday and as part of DYBW I wanted to honor my heritage and specifically my grandma, with this outfit. The bracelet is one of her pearl necklaces I wrapped twice. I wore my seashell necklace because I got it on a trip to Virginia Beach and my grandma loved to travel. My grandma always called me her little ballerina (even though my parents could never afford for me to actually go to ballet classes) so anytime I see any ballet things, I automatically think of her. This is one of my favorite shirts because of that, and all the colors. I feel like grandma would've appreciated the skirt and the wedges as well. I miss her a lot but I feel like I'm carrying a piece of her with me today.

The tee came from Old Navy, the skirt from Fashion Bug, the tanks from DEB, the shoes from Clothing Warehouse and the cardigan from KMart.

Window to the soul

Today I wanted to accent my eyes. I think purple brings out the green and brown in my eyes better than any other color. What do you think? I love pink and purple together so much! It reminds me of My Little Ponies. The jeans are from Old Navy, the shoes are from the Clothing Warehouse, the cardigan is from Gap, and the shirt is from KMart. It's actually a dress but it's not nearly modest enough for my liking! I'm super excited for tomorrow's outfit. I'll be honoring my grandma who passed away 9 years ago on Tuesday. Tomorrow would have been her birthday though and I find it much more fitting to celebrate her day of birth than the day she left us.

This week has been a bit too hectic to participate in dress your best week completely for me. One of the things I wanted to focus on this week was my smile. I asked my boyfriend for help on picking my five best features and he named my smile because it's "infectious". I've heard that a lot in the past, so I decided he probably wasn't making it up. :) Ironically I didn't get any of my more charming smiles in the pictures but I decided to accent it by wearing bright earrings and a bright shirt which to me, accent my cheery demeanor. How would you accent your smile?

Nothing too exciting

I haven't worn anything too exciting the past couple days because I've mostly been in my scrubs. These pictures are from Friday when Joe and I had one of the most awesome days ever. We started our afternoon with a picnic with out friends Kait and Jut, and their baby girl (my goddaughter!) Lily. Joe and I then ventured on to the toy store, the park, the elementary school playground. I wanted something comfy that I didn't mind getting dirty. The capris are from DEB, the tank was thrifted, the tee from Maurices and the flip flops were from Old Navy... Oh and my shades are from Rue 21! This is the best whole outfit pic I have... Joe happened to find this sight too funny not to take a pic!

I'm pretty sure we need these hats!

Houndstooth w/color!

I've had this beautiful vest for almost 2 years and I've always worn it over a black shirt of some sort. I've seen several ladies, including my lovely cousin Rose, pair their houndstooth items with color and I'd been contemplating doing it for quite some time. I ended up loving this look. I thrifted the cardigan, and the shoes. The tank tops and the vest came from DEB, the jeans from Fashion Bug. These shoes... oh I love them. They've got this tiny little kitten heels, but you don't know that when I'm wearing jeans. I love kitten heels because I'm 5'7" and pumps make me tower over everyone else. Not that I usually let that stop me, I just hate having to stoop down to hear people.

I purchased this new eyeshadow quad the other day and I love it. It's nice to have something where the shades are picked out and I just have to choose how to apply it. I got this shirt at Maurices. When I walked into my best friends house today she said, "I love it when you wear that shirt! It means it's beautiful and warm outside!" The skirt is from Fashion Bug... I hadn't been able to find a way to wear it that I actually liked until today. I think the trick is heels... it just doesn't look right with flats. Also, Friday, I set my phone on top of my car while pumping gas and drove off while it was still on my car... I came back to find it in the intersection having been run over several times. Miraculously, it still made and received calls. Anywho, the last pic is my excited face now that I have my new EnV3. I will totally recommend them because really, any phone that can get run over multiple times and only suffer lack of screen functionality and can still make calls... is a champ!

I'm not too sure what to say about this outfit.. this is by far my favorite skirt ever. The striped halter is from Alloy, the green hoodie and pink tank are both from DEB, the skirt is from fashion bug, and the shoes are Simply Vera from Kohl's ($1.99 in January... I love clearance). I felt like one of those brightly colored lollipops all day.

I didn't get a picture of my entire outfit this day, but I did get my hair colored Saturday and I adore it! I decided to wear my houndstooth tank as a top layer and loved the look!

I adore my yellow nail polish... and my beautiful Wal-Mart flip flops

Instead of subjecting my hair to the normal blow drying/flatironing torture, I dried it most of the way and pinned a little braid back on each side and just flatironed the bangs... my hair showed it's appreciation by being soft and lovely all day.

I got this yellow tee shirt at Old Navy in 2007 and it's really time to retire it but it's so soft and so comfy I just can't. The purple tank was $1 at a KMart super clearance sale, and the capris are from DEB. Let it be known, I will buy almost anything for a $1, hence the title.

I decided it was time I created a blog to showcase some of the things I love the most, fashion, make up, and hair. I'm sure I'll be adding some other things as we go, but for now we'll stick to those three.

Something about the purple tank top seems to insist that it be paired with bronze shoes... as luck would have it, I have 4 different pairs of bronze shoes so it never gets too boring.
